A tamtejszemu ZOO jeszcze lepiej. To właśnie dlatego, zdaniem flamandzkich polityków, frankofoński premier zadbał o to, by zwierzęta trafiły do bliższego jego sercu ogrodu.

Separatist movement in Belgium has got new arguments since this week, as the politicians from the Northern part of the country accused their homologues from the South of discrimination on…zoological grounds. Doesn’t matter how difficult it is to believe in it, the political scandal which woke up the ghosts of separation in Belgium, has been caused by… two panda bears.
Chinese authorities decided to rent the animals to Belgium for 10 years and it is supposed to be the Belgian Prime Minister who is visiting China at the moment, who will bring the pandas back from his state trip. However, the news that Xinhui and Haohao (that’s how the two bears are called) will live at the Animal Park “Pairi Daiza” in the francophone part of the country, Wallonia (in fact very close to the home town of the Belgian PM) has shocked Dutch speaking Belgian politicians. In their opinion, the pandas would be equally well if not better in the 170 year old ZOO in Antwerp, in the northern part of the country. The Antwerp ZOO would have been even much more better with the pandas! After the news that the Chinese bears will stay at "Pairi Daiza", its stocks at the Belgian Stock Exchange has raised significantly. And it is is not a big surprise at all, as panda bears are currently rented to only five ZOOs in Europe and usually their arrival spikes the number of visitors by 20%! According to the Flemish politicians this is the very reason, why French speaking PM decided to bring the pandas to the Animal Park that is closer to his heart. And it doesn’t matter, that it was “Pairi Daiza” who had made an official request for the bears, neither that Antwerp ZOO was already granted pandas in 1987. According to the Belgian, separatist politicians, by giving the pandas to “Pairi Daiza” the francophone Prime Minister one more time has shown that he doesn’t care about Dutch speaking citizens, therefore the existence of Belgium in a current form has no sense and the country should be split in two parts. Elio di Rupo has also already been called to explain himself from the panda scandal in front of the Belgian Parliament as soon as he is back from China. Maybe the Belgian PM should simply take Xinhui and Haoha with him and the bears during the parliamentary debate where they prefer to stay?
